College of Business

College of Business

The College of Business is the largest college at The University of Findlay in terms of student census. Our undergraduate and graduate programs emphasize the student's development of critical managerial competencies such as:

  • communication skill
  • problem solving
  • critical thinking and sound decision making
  • the integration of the latest technological applications

The College has adopted an innovative, experientially-based approach to fostering student competency development.  For example, in order to encourage our students to practice their very best written communication skills, the College provides students (both undergraduate and graduate) with an opportunity to earn scholarships of up to $500 for every publication they author as a student in the College of Business through our Student Publication Grant Program.  In addition, students who practice their verbal presentations skills by presenting a paper at a professional conference are eligible for a Conference Participation Grant of up to $500 to defray expenses associated with attending the conference.  These are only some of the ways that the College partners with our students to help them accomplish significant, real-world achievements.

The University's liberal arts tradition ensures that your professional development takes place within the context of an emphasis on intellectual development and a focus on ethical behavior. UF’s business programs allow you the opportunity to declare majors in more than one discipline in order to provide you with the academic background best suited to your professional goals.

Undergraduate business majors include:

  • accounting (with financial or managerial emphasis)
  • business management/administration
  • economics
  • entrepreneurship
  • finance
  • hospitality management
  • human resource management
  • international business
  • marketing
  • operations/logistics

There are also undergraduate business minors available in:

  • accounting
  • business management/administration
  • economics and business economics
  • entrepreneurship
  • finance
  • human resource management
  • hospitality management (foodservice or lodging emphasis)
  • international business
  • operations/logistics

In addition to pursuing only a business major, undergraduate students with diverse interests might wish to explore doing an additional minor in a nonbusiness academic discipline (like art or English) or double majoring in a business and nonbusiness subject as part of our new Center for Business and the Liberal Arts Program.

For graduate students, a choice can be made between taking courses live on camus, or online using our inovative Elluminate course "chat" tools.  There are four concentrations within the MBA Program:

  • organizational leadership
  • health care management
  • hospitality management
  • public administration

In addition, similar to our undergraduate program, you may also take a second MBA concentration, or minor, in

  • marketing
  • accounting
  • human resource management
  • finance
  • international business

Another notable aspect of Findlay’s business programs is that the faculty members are exceptionally qualified based on their academic background and their private sector business experience. When you graduate with a degree in business from The University of Findlay, you will be fully prepared for a rewarding career within the context of a meaningful life.

Our graduates have gone on to work at some nationally recognized companies such as Marathon Oil, Cooper Tire and Rubber, Whirlpool, Dana Corporation, and others.  If your interests include developing your personal managerial competencies and possibly pursuing a double major or major and minor in the areas listed above, then please consider applying to The University of Findlay.
