The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing education and complies with the Criteria for Quality for continuing pharmacy education programming.The goal of the College of Pharmacy Office of Continuing Professional Development is to provide quality Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) programs for health care professionals who are required to maintain and enhance their professional aptitude at various venues.Mission Statement:The mission of the Office of Continuing Professional Development is to support The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy faculty in developing and sponsoring quality educational activities that focus on improving the knowledge base of all health care practitioners in multidiciplinary programs that encourage a multidiciplinary model for the delivery of improved patient care and quality health care.To meet this mission, the Office sets the following objectives: 1. Provide continuing education opportunities which meet the needs of a diverse and rapidly changing profession by developing and offering a variety of topical programs.2. Develop educational programs that ensure optimal medication therapy outcomes and patient safety, manage practice settings, satisfy the educational requirements for pharmacist reliensure, and meet recertification requirements for pharmacy technicians. 3. Provide educational programs in a format that encourages interaction between health care practitioners and emphasizes the need for the development of a multidisciplinary team approach to improve patient care. 4. Recruit and aid in enhancing the skills of program faculty that have been recognized for professional expertise and effective communication skills. 5. Match physical facilities to participant and programmatic needs.6. Develop, evaluate and incorporate new educational methods and media into adult education programming. 7. Apply quality assurance and outcome assessment principles to strengthen the effectiveness of educational programming and administrative functions. 8. Coordinate offerings to provide curricular based courses of study, which enable health care practitioners to attain and enhance skills and knowledge necessary to meet challenges in all practice settings.9. Maintain administrative and fiscal responsibility to foster innovation and improvement while assuring effective programming on a continuing basis. The target audience for continuing professional development activities are pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.Continuing professional development will include Knowledge-based CPE activities, Application-based CPE activities, and Practice-based CPE activites on campus and off-campus. The format used to deliver these activities will include: live program, real-time video teleconferencing or internet, home study courses delivered via internet, certificate programs, combination programs that include home study and live, and printed material using monographs and journal articles. The Office of Continuing Professional Development will serve as a guide to offer the best combination of CPE activities to ensure the health professional's needs are adequately achieved.Continuing Professional Development Activities are available through the College of Pharmacy Office of External Programs.
