Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity 2010

Poster Judging Contest & Criteria

Individuals who participate in the poster judging competition at the Symposium will have their work judged by a panel of faculty members.

Construction

Posters cannot be larger than 4 x 3 feet. They should have the following components:
  • Background & Purpose
  • Case Description & Interventions OR Methods
  • Results OR Outcomes
  • Discussion / Conclusions

Criteria

The poster presentations will be judged based on the following criteria:

 1. Experience, Skill, and Knowledge Gained (10 points)

  • Development of background information
  • Ability to explain the content of the poster
  • Evidence or works cited to support content

 2. Effective Use of Critical Thinking (10 points) 

  • Presentation of a purpose, research question, or a hypothesis
  • Ability to narrate or evaluate the results of the poster
  • Evidence of following appropriate procedures according to chosen purpose, research question, or hypothesis

 3. Clarity of Expression (10 points)

  • Written communications (i.e., spelling, grammar, etc.)
  • Visual aids / media (i.e., neatness, conducive to topic)
  • Verbal presentation (i.e., comprehensiveness, organization, flow)

4. Originality (10 points)

  • Unique and creative ideas

Awards

Three awards will be announced: Best of Show, First Runner- Up, and Second Runner- Up. The awardees will have the honor of being selected as the best of the Symposium and they will receive monetary awards for purchases at the UF bookstore. The Best of Show awardee will receive a $100 gift certificate; the first Runner-Up $50; and Second Runner-Up $25.
