Frequently Asked Questions for Post Secondary Students

Are there costs involved with this program?
Post secondary "Option B" permits students to enroll in college/university courses for high school and college credit.  Students selecting this option will not be required to pay for tuition, books, or materials associated with such courses.  Additional fees associated with art or music courses are not covered by the post secondary program.  These fees are the responsibility of the student and his or her family.

Who should I speak to if I need to change my schedule?
If you need to make any changes to your schedule, please contact your high school guidance counselor.  The post secondary coordinator will only accept changes from your guidance counselor.  Please check the academic calendar to see if the last day to add or withdraw from a class has passed.

How do I know where and when my class or classes are?
The post secondary coordinator will give you a copy of your schedule after you’ve been registered.  However, if you lose this copy your schedule can be viewed online under “UF student academic information”.  This area requires a separate username and password from what you were assigned to utilize “blackboard”.  Please stop by the Registrar’s Office in the basement of Old Main to receive your user name and password in order to access your academic information online.  Username and password information can only be given to a student in person or through the mail, not over the phone or through email.  The location of your class may be changed at the beginning of the semester due to unforeseen circumstances, so please check your schedule again a day or two before your class starts to see if there have been changes.

How can I view my grades for my classes?
Once you receive your username and password from the Registrar (see above), you should be able to access your grades in “UF student academic information”.

What should I do if I’m having trouble in my college class?
First, talk to your professor in person, over the phone, or through email about your issue(s) with the class.  If you are not satisfied after speaking to your professor, please contact the post secondary coordinator at 419-434-4636 or adepuy@findlay.edu.

What happens if I fail my college class or classes?
Post secondary students must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in their college coursework in order to stay enrolled in the program.  You may be responsible for paying for those classes that you failed, even if it did not drop your GPA below a 2.5.  Payment of any failed courses is determined by your high school, not UF.

Where can I get contact information for my professor(s)?
Your professor(s) should have their contact information listed on their syllabus, which you should receive the first day of class.  However, if you need to contact them prior to the start of class or lose your syllabus, please contact them using the UF Directory.

What happens if I lose my student ID?
If you lose your student ID you will need to get another one ASAP.  Go back to the Box Office in the AMU and let them know you need a new one.  The first replacement is free, but after your first replacement it will cost $5 to replace.

Who should I contact if I cannot make it to class?
It is your responsibility to contact the professor of the class or classes you will be missing ASAP.  Please do not contact the post secondary coordinator.

As a post secondary student, what amenities do I have access to on campus?
Post secondary students are issued special student ID cards that only allow access into computer labs and the ability to check books out of our library.  You may eat in the Cave (located in the AMU), but you must use cash or your credit card.

Who should I speak to if I’m interested in applying to UF as a freshman? Applications are available here.  If you’d like a paper application, please let me know and I will give you one.  If you’d like to visit campus with your parents to speak with an admissions counselor, faculty in your area of study, and perhaps one of our athletic coaches, please contact Robin Hopkins, Visit Coordinator, at 419-434-4161.

How would my post secondary courses transition if I decided to attend UF?
Your post secondary courses would be applied toward your academic record if you were accepted to The University of Findlay as a freshman. Depending on the number of post secondary courses you took, it could accelerate you to sophomore or junior status.

How do I get my post secondary transcript mailed to prospective colleges?
If you’d like a copy of your post secondary transcript mailed to perspective colleges, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 419-434-4556 for copies.
