UF’s National Championship Basketball Team Member Tyler Evans to Raise Funds for The Salvation Army at Nov. 19 Ball Game
Monday, November 16, 2009
Tyler Evans, a UF alumnus who was a
member of last season’s national championship basketball team, will help to
“tip off” The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Malone Thursday, Nov. 19, in Croy Gymnasium. The game
begins at 7:30 p.m.
Evans
will attempt 10 three-point shots. For every shot he makes, Northwestern Mutual
Financial Network will donate $100 to The Salvation Army. If Evans makes the 10th
shot, Northwestern Mutual will double its donation.
Following
the basketball game, Evans will stand at one of The Salvation Army kettles,
which will be placed at each exit.
Evans
made the winning basket in the national championship game with 2.4 seconds on
the clock. He graduated from the University with a 3.76 G.P.A. with a double
major in business management and finance, a strong example of NCAA Division
II’s emphasis on student-athletes’ ability to excel in both areas. He is a
full-time graduate student at Ohio Dominican University and holds an internship
with the Ohio Department of Development.
