Financial Aid Sources
The following is a listing of aid types for which you may be eligible. The aid office will make the determination using infomation from your admissions file and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Generally, grant aid may be available only if the student is seeking the first baccalaureate degree.

Merit scholarships, as listed above, are generally renewable for up to four years (total of five years of scholarship aid), but are limited to students who have not yet earned their first baccalaureate degree. Likewise, students who enter the graduate portion of their program, even though they may not yet have earned the baccalaureate degree, are not eligible for the merit awards.
Scholarship amounts for transfer students generally mirror those for new students and are based on college level grades, assuming student has completed at least 12 transfer hours

The U.S. Department of Education also funds the Academic Competetiveness Grant and National SMART Grant programs. The former may be available to students in their first or second year of college, the latter to students in their third or fourth year of college. Students must be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and must have taken a rigorous secondary school program with a cumulative grade average of 3.00 or higher. The SMART Grant program requires that students have achieved a 3.00 grade average or higher with a major in a select subset of majors. Please contact the aid office for more details.
Additionally the federal TEACH Grant may be available to students seeking teaching licensure, but requires that students teach in certain academic subjects and in school districts with certain economic critera. The financial aid office may make presentations in education classes in the fall to help students determine whether they might meet the requirements for the TEACH Grant. Student Employment (2009-2010):
Award letters will typically include work-study eligibility if the student is eligible, based on FAFSA information. However, if the work-study eligibility appears on the award letter, that in no way guarantees the student a job. Moreover, if the student does work, the earnings are paid directly to the student; they are not applied to the student's account.
