Accommodations and Housing

The Housing Application will open soon.

Finding Housing

International students are not required to live on campus at the University of Findlay. There are comfortable, affordable safe options for students who are interested in either option.  Below is information to help you plan for your housing once you arrive on campus.

Living On-Campus

Living on-campus gives our international students security and their family back home peace of mind. We offer a wide variety of on-campus living options ranging from individual apartments and houses to more traditional residence halls and townhouses. On-campus living is designed to be convenient, and safe and helps students quickly make friends and feel at home.

Benefits of Living On-Campus

  • Conveniently located within walking distance of your classes
  • Fully-furnished
  • Single or double occupancy rooms
  • All utilities included electric, gas, water, trash, Internet
  • Charges billed per semester
  • 24-hour security
  • Students must be registered for full-time credit hours

Students who live in residence halls are required to have a dining plan because there are no kitchens in the residence hall rooms. Students who live in university apartments or houses can choose to opt-out of the dining plan or have a full or partial dining plan.

Housing options listed below are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. All options may not be available at the time of your arrival. We recommend applying for on-campus housing when the housing application opens in mid-November for the Spring intake and mid-February for the August intake.

On-Campus Housing
If an International student wants to live in on-campus housing, managed by the Student Affairs Office, and space is available, they will need to complete our housing agreement which states they are committing to live on campus for the entire academic year. This application is available inside the housing portal, housing.findlay.edu. Once a room is assigned, the student will receive an email with check-in information. Once a student checks in, they are committed to the room for the rest of the academic year. Charges are applied to the student account and billed by the semester.

Students should carefully read the housing license agreement located in the housing application to ensure they understand the refund policy.

Please note that not all room types are available to fall arrivals making their plans in the summer, or spring arrivals as the majority of our rooms are filled in early spring for the next year.

We match students with roommates and housemates based on a variety of preferences such as how they feel about guests, sleep and study habits, as well as music preferences.
  • We do not use citizenship or religious affiliation to match roommates/housemates. Students who have strong feelings about this are encouraged to seek off-campus housing.
  • Once the majority of our spaces are full, matching based on preferences becomes more challenging.
We do not offer on campus housing for couples or families.

UF is a tobacco-free campus and those who wish to smoke should plan to live off campus.

Living Off-Campus

For any student interested in living off-campus, we encourage you to find rental options before you arrive on campus. We recommend searching for rentals on any of these reputable sites below:
Keep in mind that Findlay, Ohio does not have a public transportation system. If you are renting more than walking distance from campus, you will need to have a vehicle to get to and from campus.

Rental properties around campus are affordable and there are many options for rentals that are within walking distance from campus. Please refer to this Renting Off-Campus Guide for International Students when you are preparing to sign a lease.

Off-Campus Housing

Students who are seeking off-campus housing should be prepared to sign a 12-month lease and pay separately for gas, electric, water, trash removal, and wifi. Depending on the location of the rental and their willingness to walk, students may or may not need a vehicle.

Welcome Houses

If you want to wait until you arrive in Findlay to decide if you want to live on or off-campus, we offer a temporary stay in our Welcome Houses.

The Welcome Houses are located on campus and are fully furnished.  You can also purchase a bedding packet from the University to make your first few nights very comfortable.  Each Welcome House is staffed with an International Graduate Assistant who is responsible for helping residents that stay in their house. They are full-time students who work in our office and who also live in the house full-time. They assist new students with any questions they may have about the city of Findlay, the campus, orientation, etc.

Students have up to 10 days to stay in the Welcome House while deciding on whether they would like to live on or off campus during the academic year. Once a student makes his or her decision, the graduate assistants will be glad to show them the residence hall room options or assist them with their apartment search.

Is there a fee to stay in the house?
Yes. The charge is $25 per night and will be charged to your student account. This fee is waived if you choose to live on-campus.

The Refinery located in the Center for Student Life/College of Business Building is also open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during regular school sessions. You may also use the kitchen facilities at the Welcome Houses, but please remember to clean up the kitchen after you are finished cooking.
