Add a middle childhood license to your degree

A middle childhood license in Ohio allows you to teach in grades 4-9.


If you already hold a bachelors degree from a region​ally accredited institution then you may qualify for our post-baccalaureate licensure program.

  • Completion of Ohio Department of Education approved licensure curriculum (individual curricula dependent upon approved transferrable coursework)

  • 24 hours from two different content areas: 

    • Language Arts

    • Science

    • Social Studies

    • Mathematics

  • Three-level assessments (linked to coursework)

  • The following state-required tests:  Assessment of Professional Knowledge:  Middle Childhood (4-9) (#002), Middle Childhood Language Art (#028), Middle Childhood Math (#030, Middle Childhood Social Studies (#031), Middle Childhood Science (#029), Middle Childhood Generalist (#018 & #019 OR other two content tests listed prior; additional coursework required)Students must maintain a 3.00 GPA, pass all three-level assessments and state-required tests to earn a Letter of Program Completion. The University of Findlay licensure programs meet Ohio licensure requirements, candidates interested in being licensed in another state need to work with that state’s department of education to determine eligibility for the other state.
