Connecting higher education with innovative K-12 schools
The COE Scholars Program started in the fall of 2021 through a grant from the inaugural UF Women in Philanthropy group to support a program for outstanding junior/senior level COE majors to work with a distinguished educational leader in the community.
Every year a COE Scholar Chair is selected by the Dean of the College of Education to serve as a leader of the Scholar program and give feedback to the COE for all programs. During the fall semester 10 outstanding education teacher candidates are selected to participate. The group meets once a week for EDUC 495 Seminar/Independent Study and will have the opportunity to learn from a variety of educational leaders throughout Ohio. Scholars will travel to several schools to observe innovative practices and determine how they can implement those strategies in their own teaching.
