University of Findlay’s Multi-Age Education Program will prepare you for a career in teaching multi-age students with the ability to double major in education and
Japanese.
Course Information
University of Findlay's College of Education prepares student through a blend of classwork and fieldwork.
Classwork
Classwork is comprised of multi-age education core courses and Japanese specialization courses. The education core focuses teaching methodologies and practices for teaching subject matter. The Japanese course requirements involve taking four years of Japanese language courses as well as a language acquisition course and a Japanese culture course.
Field Work
Findlay students benefit from field experiences outside campus beginning in their first year. Over four years of courses, students engage in over 1000 hours of fieldwork with exposure to a variety of districts and classrooms.
Teach Abroad
The University of Findlay has partnered with schools in Japan. Our students regularly have the opportunity to travel abroad and teach in Japanese schools with the support of a Findlay faculty advisor and the host school. Students explore how teaching is different in other culture and learn different classroom management techniques while enjoying the city and its people. Two education majors, Kat Slate and Julia Smith, had the chance to visit the cities of Fukui and Osaka and teach in a Japanese school. Along the way, they recorded blog posts of their experience while there. Check it out to gain a student perspective of what it's like to study abroad as an education major.
