The University of Findlay has received emergency funding through the CARES Act (HEERF I), CRRSA Act (HEERF II), ARP (HEERF III) to help support students. Information about these programs is provided below.

American Rescue Plan (HEERF III)
The University of Findlay has received funding through the American Rescue Plan established in March 2021 which allocated additional funds to the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, referred to as HEERF III. The University of Findlay was allocated funds to directly support students whose lives and educations have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Direct support to students will be provided as an ARP financial aid grant and can be used for expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. Unlike CARES Act, ARP can also be used to pay an outstanding student account balance with student authorization.

Who was eligible for ARP funding?
The University of Findlay has developed the following criteria to award ARP funds.
- Findlay students within the US or UF students with US citizenship studying abroad;

Findlay students registered for at least one class at the time of distribution during the Fall 2021 term;
- Findlay student is not a College Credit Plus student.

How will I receive this grant?
If you do not have an unpaid balance, ARP funds will be disbursed to your student account and then refunded according to your refund preferences in Workday. If you currently have an unpaid balance, you will be contacted for information as to whether or not you wish to have these funds applied to your student account or refunded to you.
How can I spend ARP Act funding?
The purpose of the ARP financial aid grant is to offset costs related to disruptions in instruction. Emergency grant funds can be used for expenses such as:
- Food,
- Housing,
- Course materials,
- Technology,
- Health care,
- Child care, or
- Student account balance
ARP financial aid grants have been deemed qualified disaster relief payments and are not subject to taxation per the Internal Revenue Code.
CRRSA Act (HEERF II)
The University of Findlay received funding from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) established Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds II (HEERF II). Why didn't I receive this grant?
The University of Findlay developed a methodology for identifying high-need undergraduate students based on the guidelines provided by the Federal government for allocation of these funds. As result, funds were distributed only to those undergraduate students who met the guidelines listed above.
CARES Act (HEERF I)
The University of Findlay was awarded $2,250,866 of funding from HEERF and intends to use no less than 50%, or $1,125,000, to directly support students whose lives and educations have been disrupted by COVID-19 pandemic. Direct support to students will be provided as an emergency financial aid grant and can be used for expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care.
Who was eligible for CARES Act (HEERF I) funding?
The CARES Act defines basic eligibility criteria for students must meet to receive these funds. The University of Findlay has developed a methodology for identifying students that eligible for this grant. A student must meet the following criteria to be eligible for CARES Act funds:

- Domestic student seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree from the University of Findlay;
- Student was taking at least one in-person class at the time of disruption, during the Spring 2020 term.

How will I receive this grant?
CARES Act funds will be disbursed to your student account and then refunded to your student ID card. These funds are meant for direct student support, which means the University of Findlay will provide the full amount of emergency financial aid grant as a refund to the student ID card whether or not a student has an outstanding balance.

Why didn't I receive this grant?
The Department of Education has indicated that international students, students who are not eligible to file the FAFSA application, and students pursuing an exclusively online degree are not eligible for HEERF emergency financial aid grants.
Through the provision of our many generous donations, the University of Findlay has created the UF Student Emergency Fund. These institutional funds, although limited, are provided to any UF students able to demonstrate need due to COVID-19 impacts. Students who want to be considered for these funds will need to complete the UF Student Emergency Fund application.
CARES Reporting
The University of Findlay, as a HEERF recipient, is required to disclose information regarding HEERF funding. This disclosure must be initially posted by 30 days of signing the Certification of Agreement and updated every 45 days later. The disclosure must include: the methodology used to determine grant amounts provided to students; the total allocation provided to UF for emergency financial aid grants; the total amount distributed to students as of the reporting dates described above. The University of Findlay signed the Certification of Agreement on 4/20/2020. Disbursement disclosures will be provided for 5/20/20 and updated at least every 45 days thereafter. Due to wide spread impact of COVID in the State of Ohio students identified as eligible to receive the funds will receive an equivalent amount of funding.
