NMI cooperates with a number of approved affiliate health care institutions and nuclear pharmacies for its students' clinical internship. Clinical affiliates are available in various states across the nation. See the bottom of this page for current affiliates and their locations.
A conjoint advisory committee, with a representative from each affiliate health care institution, college, and radiopharmacy, provides guidance for curriculum development and helps assess the program's needs.

Upon successful completion of the NMI program, all students may be eligible to apply to the NMTCB or ARRT to take the national certification exam in nuclear medicine technology. Student eligibility depends on patient load, degree achieved, and clinical competencies completed. The
ARRT has specific clinical competency requirements that may not be met by some clinical facilities, depending on patient load or student efforts. Eligibility requirements for ARRT certification in nuclear medicine technology requires for candidates to have earned an associate (or more advanced) degree from an accrediting agency recognized by ARRT.
