Benefits of the Honors Program

There are many benefits to challenging yourself and participating in the University's Honors Program:

Enrich and challenge yourself academically

Independent Work

Work on a topic of your choice under the guidance of a faculty adviser.

Complete in-depth research in your chosen professional field.

Tuition Waiver

As a member of the Honors Program, you are eligible for a tuition waiver of up to six semester hours of overload credit (above 18 hours for that semester). To receive this tuition waiver, you must be enrolled in an HNRS course during the semester you are taking an overload. An approved list of students entitled to a tuition waiver is sent to the Business Office two weeks after the start of each semester.

Graduation Recognition

At commencement, students meeting all requirements for the Honors Program will be recognized by designation as an Honors Scholar in their chosen field of study. Students achieving this honor will wear University of Findlay’s bachelor’s hood and will receive a certificate from the President during commencement exercises.

Beyond Graduation

Through the work you do in the Honors Program, you will distinguish yourself among others as you continue your educational, creative, and professional pursuits. Graduates tell us that the designation of Honors Scholar tends to set them apart from other applicants for jobs and graduate school.
