“The internship and career fair here at the University of
Findlay landed me an awesome new Computer Science Internship at Marathon Petroleum’s headquarters here
in Findlay, OH. It allowed me to directly speak with recruiters and learn each
others objectives and goals.”

- Potential
career/internship opportunities - Employers come specifically to
recruit for jobs and internships. Bring several copies of your resume to
give to employers.
- Learn
how to present yourself professionally - Employers like meeting
students face to face. This is your chance to promote yourself. You need
to get comfortable with introducing yourself and distributing your
resume.
- Increases your chance of receiving an interview with an employer.
- Underclassmen
should attend the fair to get familiar with how this type of event
works. When you are looking for an internship or job, you will be
prepared and know what to expect.
The Fair
Before the Fair
- Watch the Career Development Videos on
job fair preparation, interviewing, resumes and many more to prepare you before the fair.
- Have your resume reviewed by a career counselor in the CCPD 5 days before the fair. Please email your resume, in Word format, to [email protected] or schedule an appointment through Starfish.
- Professional dress is recommended for the fair. You may borrow professional attire from the Career Closet for a fee of $5.00. Email Susan Eiserle to schedule an appointment or come to the CCPD located at 122 Old Main.

The Day of the Fair
-
LinkedIn Profile - Create or update your LinkedIn profile - Make sure all of the content is correct and current.
- Prioritize
the employers you are most interested in - If your schedule allows, you
may find it easiest to start with the employers in which you are less
interested. This will help you to become more confident with each
employer.
- Take notes - The
representative at the fair may not be able to answer all of your
questions or know specifics about your job interests. Write down the
names, telephone numbers or email addresses of other staff in the
organization whom you can contact later.
- Ask
the representative for his/her card - Having a business card of the
representative you have just spoken to with give you a direct contact
with the organization.
- Visit the Photo Booth - Get a professional headshot to be used for social media platforms.
After the Fair
-
Notes - Make notes about the conversations you had with each company representative.
-
Follow-up with
Employers - Send an email thanking them for the time they took to speak
with you and mention something you discussed at the fair.
-
