ENVM 625 - Project Management and Planning
Nothing is worse than having a great idea and seeing it fail due to mismanagement. This course will keep your projects moving in the right direction by teaching you the elements of strategic planning, forecasting, project implementation and cost control. We will also cover how to effectively communicate your plan to management in a business format through an understanding of cost, budget and return-on-investment considerations.

MBA 665 - Management of Information and Technology
It seems like every month there is a new story about a company's failure to protect their clients' information. Make sure your company isn't next in the news. This course addresses the key issues associated with managing information, technology and related resources used to support organizational processes. Topics covered include data governance, e-commerce, enterprise applications, management and strategic planning of information systems, human and technology resources, the systems development lifecycle, information security and information technology project management.


Technical Component


CSCI 510 - Applied Security Principles

This course sets the knowledge base for the rest of your classes in the Master of Applied Security and Analytics Program. 

You will explore the foundational principles of information security and assurance including security technologies and tools, assessing, developing, and implementing security plans, information security process flows, and legal, ethical, and professional issues in information security. Special emphasis will be placed on improving cybersecurity through local action.

CSCI 523 - Statistical Methods for Business Analytics

Learn how you can use statistics from a business analytics perspective to help professionals make better decisions based on data.


CSCI 560 - Secure Coding

Build upon your knowledge of data structures and fundamental programming. Topics covered in this course will include least privilege, defense in depth, end-to-end security, security development lifecycle, input validation, correct handling of exceptions, classification of common coding errors, as well as verification strategies including testing and code audits. An object-oriented language such as C++ or Java will be used for this course.

CSCI 580 - Advanced Software Engineering
This course investigates principles of good software engineering and their relationship to software engineering models, skills and metrics. The major topics will include comparison of different development processes, software engineering methodologies, software engineering skills, software engineering metrics, and legal and ethical issues in software engineering.

CSCI 590 Data Mining for Decision Making

You've collected the data, now what? This course will teach you how to use data analysis methods appropriate to sort your information into usable fields. 

CSCI 613 - Risk Management for Information Systems

This course covers risk management concepts including risk analysis, assessment and mitigation. Determining risk to an organization, evaluating the adequacy of controls and systems, and communicating risk will be covered.

CSCI 690 - Data Visualization and Predictive Analytics
There are many people in your company that need to utilize the data you've collected. In this course, you will learn how to present your data in a clear, concise manner to other departments or businesses. 

CSCI 697 & 698 - Capstone Project 

The capstone project is a two-part endeavor that is designed to take you through a work project from conception to presentation. You will begin by developing a project proposal that integrates the concepts they have learned in the MSASA program. After cleaning and organizing your data, you will present your research to your capstone committee. You will prepare a conference proposal, conference poster, or publication to summarize your capstone project.
