Mark Amsler
Mark has 24 years of healthcare experience with a wide range of Pharmaceutical roles from clinical to leadership. His prior experience includes serving as Director of Pharmacy and Performance Improvement for VHA Central where he lead Pharmacy Councils and multidisciplinary collaboratives to aid member hospitals in performance improvement, such as HEN projects aimed at reducing Adverse Drug Reactions, and helped provide education for members on various pharmaceutical care topics. Prior to this Mark was Premier Health’s Pharmacy Sourcing Manager for the system. In this project management role he redesigned the Pharmacy Sourcing Program to raise annual savings from $700,000 per year to over $3.8 million per year while utilizing his business and clinical acumen to improve pharmacy operations and patient outcomes. He currently works as a Pharmacy Executive assisting ten of Vizient’s top 200 hospital systems as they work to contain their over $2.1 billion in aggregated spend. Mark has led initiatives impacting multiple levels of pharmaceutical care. These initiatives include formulary management with outcomes monitoring when needed, operational process design, throughput and turnaround time improvement, inventory reduction, and Value Based Purchasing improvement. In addition, he has worked on multiple capital purchasing projects including the purchasing and clinical evaluation of IV Smart Pumps and Medication Carousels. Mark holds a Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Health from Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia and a PharmD from Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Teresa Ash
A native to the Findlay area, Dr. Ash graduated from Cory-Rawson High School and grew up in the back yard of the University of Findlay. Dr. Ash received a Master of Health Administration from Ohio Northern University in 2002. In 2003, she completed an ASHP accredited pharmacy practice residency at Physicians Inc. in Lima, Ohio. She has experience in hospital pharmacy, drug information, community pharmacy, collaborative private practice, and institutional collaborative practice.
Dr. Ash is currently the Director of Pharmacy and Outpatient Infusion at Mercy West Hospital in Cincinnati, OH and the Lead Regional Pharmacist for Mercy Health-Cincinnati. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a Certified Diabetes Educator. Dr. Ash has provided multiple continuing education presentations on diabetes management, immunization, opioid addiction, women's health, and cardiovascular disease throughout the United States. She also maintains an active role in pharmacy and nursing education, serving as adjunct faculty at the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy and Xavier University College of Nursing as well as serving on the Advisory Board at the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy. She continues to precept rotations with an emphasis in pharmacy administration.
Dr. Ash has been published in The Annals of Pharmacotherapy, The American Journal of Health-Systems Pharmacy, and Formulary. She has been recognized by her peers as a Great Lakes Young Pharmacy Leader, as Ohio's Distinguished Young Pharmacist, and as the 2018 Mercy Health Partner in Nursing.
In her spare time, Dr. Ash enjoys traveling around the country with a goal to visit all 50 states in the US. She and her husband, Nathan, also enjoy supporting their local professional sports teams, especially the Cincinnati Reds and FC Cincinnati.
Laura Aubihl
Laura Aubihl graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the inaugural Pharmacy class of 2010 at the University of Findlay. She joined her family business in 2014 and currently manages and oversees a full-service grocery store and pharmacy, providing the local community with clinical pharmacy services and fresh quality products.
Previously, Laura was Director of Pharmacy for psychiatric inpatient and detoxification facilities in Dayton and Dublin, Ohio where she provided clinical services, formulary management, upheld Joint Commission Standards and monitored drug therapy for patients.
Throughout her career, Laura has developed an extensive foundation of knowledge and expertise in the retail pharmacy setting. She strives to offer her small community with first-class care, providing immunizations, Medicare enrollment assistance, and high-level patient interaction.
Laura holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Findlay.
She holds a certification in Medication Therapy Management from APhA. She also serves as a preceptor of students for the University of Findlay and the Ohio State University. She is a member of Independent Pharmacists Special Interest Group and a member of the Advancement in Pharmacy Practice Committee at the Ohio Pharmacists Association.
Karen Beard
Karen is the recently retired Vice President of Business Development of Excelerate, a joint venture business of the Cleveland Clinic and Vizient. Excelerate is a provider-led, physician-engaged sourcing model that used outcomes and attributes of supply products to sustainably decrease costs for organization by addressing variation and utilization of high costs physician preference products. Karen lead the teams that engages members in their never-ending quest to provide quality care to patients in an environment of ever-decreasing reimbursements to healthcare organization. As a trusted advisor to Vizient and Excelerate members, Karen proactively presented solutions which provide to member's businesses. Her deep industry experience to provide insights on a wide range of solutions.
Karen has more than 40 years of healthcare experience. Prior to arriving at Vizient, she was the VP of pharmacy at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center where she led clinical and operations for 23 years implementing pharmacy information systems, expanding nutritional and oncology services and establishing clinical services.
In her 19-year career at Vizient, Karen led teams in all phases of supply chain operations, sales and supply networks. Her work has been focused on supply chain cost reduction and reducing variation and standardization for healthcare providers.
Karen received a Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Concentration from the University of Findlay, Ohio and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
Karen is a registered pharmacist in the state of Ohio. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists as well as a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives. She also served on the rules review committee for the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy and chairs the Pharmacy Advisory Board for the University of Findlay, Findlay, Ohio.
Carol Bowden
Carol lives in the San Francisco Bay / Silicon Valley Area and has worked in Medical Affairs positions with various pharmaceutical companies since 2001.
Prior to her work in the pharmaceutical industry, Carol was at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX where her responsibilities ranged from a Liver Transplant Clinical Specialist to Acting Director of Pharmacy.
She is currently an Assistant Clinical Pharmacy Professor at the University of California, San Francisco. Previously, Carol held Clinical / Adjunct Assistant Professor roles at the University of Florida and University of Houston. She has also been an invited lecturer at Houston Baptist University.
Carol received her BS in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University, an MBA from Bowling Green State University and her Pharm. D. from the University of Pittsburgh. She also completed a critical care residency at Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX. Carol is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
In 2017, Carol was selected as a Merck RTC Fellow in Mozambique, where she developed educational programs for researchers at the Centro de Investigação de Saúde de Manhiça (CISM) Research Center in collaboration with two other Merck colleagues, and the non-governmental organization (NGO), BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH). Another volunteer activity for which Carol is passionate, is as a “Cuddler" for the neonates in the Stanford University ICU.
In her spare time, Carol enjoys walking, spinning, skiing, sailing, kayaking and photography. She has a passion for adventure travel, with some of her most memorable travel including an exploration of Antarctica, gorilla trekking in Rwanda, sailing on the 2005 America's Cup sailboat in New Zealand, a National Geographic photography expedition in the Galapagos Islands, a medical mission in India, climbing Machu Picchu, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, an African safari in the Serengeti and one of her favorite places to visit, anywhere, is Italy! Her next trip …… China!
Joseph V. Conda
Joe, now retired, spent 47 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Before his retirement in 2016. Joe worked with H.D. Smith Wholesale Drug Company, the 4th largest pharmaceutical wholesaler in the U.S. There, he served as Sr. VP for Strategic Planning and Business Development, and President of H.D. Smith Specialty Solutions. Joe received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Marketing at Rutgers University and has a Graduate Level Certification in Finance from the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business. He is the past recipient of the 1998 Nexus Award from the Healthcare Distribution Alliance for Lifetime Achievement in the Pharmaceutical Distribution industry honoring exceptional character, accomplishments and leadership in HDA, the industry and the community. In 2010 he received the Harold Pratt Award from the National Chain Drug Store Association for outstanding contributions to pharmacy in the Chain Drug Store Industry. Joe was also one of only four executives to have ever been honored with both awards since their inception.
Joe's past community involvement includes being a member of the Hospice NWO Board of Trustees, and was then appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees. In 2010 he became a member of Bowling Green State University's Foundation Board, and was appointed chair of its Investment Committee in 2012.
Joe's current community involvement includes the Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo Zoo, Toledo Opera, WGTE, BGSU, University of Findlay, Toledo Symphony, Sunshine Communities, Toledo School for the Arts, Wood County District Public Library, and the Lucas County Public Library.
Kyle Dresbach
Kyle Dresbach is a leader of the Digital Pharmacies at CoverMyMeds. In this role, Kyle works across the business to deliver innovative patient access solutions to enable the CoverMyMeds mission of Helping Patients Get the Medication They Need to Live Healthy Lives. His responsibilities range from strategy formulation & new product development to the delivery of operational excellence.
Kyle's most fulfilling professional achievement is his service to our country. Upon graduating from The University of Findlay with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May 2014, Kyle joined The United States Air Force through the Health Professions Scholarship Program. During his time serving in the military, Kyle led Pharmacy Operations at McConnell Air Force Base & served as the Executive Officer to the Medical Group Commander during his final year of service. Upon separating, Kyle continued to serve the heroes of our nation as the Associate Director of Pharmacy at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Columbus, Ohio.
Going all the way back to his college years leading various professional organizations at The University of Findlay, Kyle's passion has been for leading strong teams to produce extraordinary results. To broaden his scope of business knowledge, Kyle spent two years at The Ohio State University – Fisher College of Business and obtained his Executive Master of Business Administration in 2019.
Kyle's wife, Katie Dresbach (Wilburn), is a 2013 graduate of the Master of Occupational Therapy program at The University of Findlay. During their time together at Findlay, the two led various organizations across campus. Their most memorable moments at the university include working together at the Recreation Center and spreading the Love of Christ through their involvement with the Samaritan's Purse project, Operation Christmas Child. Since graduating, the two have enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their three young kids: Kade, McKenzie and Krue.
Mindy Ferris
Mindy is responsible for leading Customer Success at Pharmscript and key areas of Operations that impact customer satisfaction. Customer Success strives to ensure every Pharmscript customer serviced is as productive, clinically advanced, and profitable as possible. Prior to joining Pharmscript, Mindy was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Partners Pharmacy and was responsible for all day-to-day operations throughout the company. Prior to her position with Partners with Partners Pharmacy, Mindy was Vice President of Operations and Principal with Pharmacy Systems, a hospital-based pharmacy management company servicing the Midwest. During this time, she served as a member of the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Mindy started her career with Omnicare, Inc. serving in various roles of progressive responsibility. Mindy culminated her 19-year tenure with Omnicare as Senior Vice President of Pharmacy Operations. Mindy holds a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from Ohio Northern University and is a registered pharmacist in including Ohio, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Amanda Guidos
Amanda is a 2010 graduate from the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy. Immediately following graduation, she began working at Walmart Pharmacies in northwest Ohio for 5 years. In 2014, Amanda changed her pharmacy career path and began working at the Ohio Veterans Home Pharmacy. The Ohio Veterans Home consists of a 426-bed nursing home, an assisted living environment, and an apartment style living. There is a vast array of pharmacist duties that are performed in the pharmacy including chart reviews, gradual dose reduction for psychotropic medications, antibiotic stewardship, dispensing medications in a retail and via an automated dispensing unit rolls, as well as filling Omnicell. The veterans’ home mission “serving those who have served” is implemented into our daily tasks to provide the optimal patient care. She married her pharmacy school sweetheart and has a 4-year-old son Zachary. They reside in Vermilion, OH and love fishing, boating, and kayaking the Vermilion River and shores.
David Hartzell
Dr. Hartzell graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Ohio University with a Masters in Healthcare Administration. He completed an ambulatory care residency then practiced in hospital outpatient clinics managing anticoag, asthma, COPD, diabetes, heart failure, lower extremity amputation prevention (LEAP), outpatient nutrition counseling, Parkinson’s, pulmonary HTN and tobacco cessation clinics. During this time, he was shared faculty at Ohio Northern University. He has held board certifications in anticoag (CACP), pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and diabetes (BC-ADM). He later transitioned to administrative roles and focused on transitions of care. For the last year before joining CareSource, he was the chief executive for a laboratory serving four hospitals. Currently, he is the Director of Clinical Initiatives at CareSource and has responsibility for organizational programs and strategies to impact medication management.
Tom Pierson
Tom Pierson is a Senior Consultant with Blue Fin Group, a life sciences strategy consulting firm, where he works with pharmaceutical and biotech organizations to bridge the gap between innovative science and patients. He received his PharmD from the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy in 2016, MS in Health-System Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2018, and MBA from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2020.
Tom completed a two-year post-graduate Health-System Pharmacy Administration residency at the University of Wisconsin Health before becoming the Pharmacy Manager of Specialty Clinic Services at the Cleveland Clinic. In this role he implemented specialty and primary care pharmacy clinic services at care sites across the Cleveland Clinic enterprise, including rheumatology, pediatrics, geriatrics, endocrine and cardiology/anti-coagulation services.
Tom has served as a faculty member for ASHP, the UW-Madison and NEOMED colleges of pharmacy where he taught courses in Drug Information, Transitions of Care, Health-System Pharmacy Leadership, Pharmacy Supply Chain, and Health-System Financial Management.
Tom has served as a member of the Vizient University Health System Consortium Pharmacy Network as a leading member of the Supply Chain Optimization and Specialty Pharmacy committees, ASHP Section Advisory Group on Innovation Management, and as chair of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin Pharmacy Advancement Leadership Team. His professional interests include health outcomes measurement and benchmarking, pharmaceutical supply chain and commercialization strategy, and specialty pharmacy.
Brian Romig
Brian has broad executive experience within the pharmacy industry and has been a catalyst for change throughout his career. He has led leading health systems and group purchasing organizations and served as the Commercial Executive in Residence for Janssen Pharmaceuticals. He currently serves as a consultant to health systems, life science companies, payers, and government agencies where he informs diverse strategies for performance improvement.
Donald Stansloski
Fifty-two years of experience in pharmacy practice and education at all levels and in numerous venues. Practiced hospital, community and clinical pharmacy in five states, Mexico and Zimbabwe. Member of the faculty at the University of Nebraska and Ohio Northern University. Fulbright scholar at the University of Zimbabwe. Taught endocrinology to Doctor of Pharmacy students over the Internet. Recently, Dean Emeritus, College of Pharmacy at the University of Findlay.
Lanikki Thomas
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, LaNikki received her Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science and Master of Public Health from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. LaNikki graciously and proudly completed her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree at The University of Findlay's (UF) College of Pharmacy in 2011. Before graduating, she managed to be awarded Findlay, Ohio's Board of Health's Public Health Champion and start UF's student affiliate chapter of the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA), Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA). LaNikki's
Pharmacy areas of interest include, community pharmacy, medication therapy management (MTM), diabetic education, herbalism, and public health. LaNikki, a professed life long-student, is currently learning Spanish as a second language and pursuing an herbalist and Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) certification. She is passionate about community pharmacy and has practiced in a multifaceted capacity at CVS/Health for 20 years. LaNikki, also, currently, performs MTM for multiple independent community pharmacies. LaNikki notes that she likes to give to the pharmacy profession in areas such as organizational involvement, precepting, volunteering, and philanthropy. She is an active member of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), Minority Women Pharmacists Association (MWPA), and NPhA. LaNikki currently precepts and volunteers at Physician Care Connections of Columbus Ohio. She proudly started a nonprofit RichLittlePoorKids, to partially help facilitate the edification of under-represented youth in Ohio in the areas of math, science & life experiences.
