Findlay All-Hazards
Students in Findlay's ESH and Sustainability major benefit from the use of the Findlay All-Hazards Training Center. Utilized by professionals in the field, this training center boasts major real-life training props such as:

- Hazardous materials and fire simulators

Findlay All Hazards training is based on the kinds of incidents that emergency responders face in the real world. We deliver coursework through a variety of methods, including tabletop and full-scale field exercises that incorporate the latest available technologies and equipment. Trainees get the opportunity to practice tasks like:
- Studying defensive and offensive mitigation techniques
- Donning and wearing personal protective equipment
- Performing decontamination
- Establishing control zones
- Setting up and conducting product transfers
- Conducting sampling and real-time monitoring

Course Offerings for Emergency Management
In addition to the core ESH and Sustainability courses, you can take the following elective courses that are geared toward the practice of emergency management.
Emergency Management Finance (3 hrs)
This course focuses contracting for goods and services before, during, and after an emergency and financial management of emergencies from the point of view of governmental agencies, businesses, and individuals.
Emergency Management Law (3 hrs)
Learn about a litany of United States and Ohio statutes, regulations, and standards that govern emergency management. Particular attention will be given to relevant Ohio statutes, regulations, and policies as they pertain to the planning for and response to all hazards emergency response.
Threat & Vulnerability Assessment & Management (3 hrs)
Apply the principles of threat and vulnerability assessment to characterize risks facing communities and workplaces using a case-study approach. Class discussions will cover such hazards as hazard and threat recognition, vulnerability analysis, biohazards, trend analysis, risk mitigation, continuity of business operations, and mutual aid agreements for the private sector. Risk-based decision methods are introduced.
All Hazards Emergency Planning (3 hrs)
This capstone course will be the culminating course in the emergency planning portion of the program. It will bring together concepts and procedures from previous course work and will address the following topics: Communications interoperability, mutual aid agreements, use of the national model proposed by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and National Emergency Management Association (NEMA), business continuity, resource management, donations management, debris management, volunteer management, and leadership.
Seminar in Environmental, Safety & Occupational Health (1 hr )
Gain a diverse education and exposure to all areas related to ESH and Sustainability. The course may include speakers from other disciplines including criminal justice, forensic science, nuclear medicine, public health, and social science. This course will provide students with an interdisciplinary view of environmental, safety, and health issues.
