Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Western

As a member of Findlay's IHSA team, students learn teamwork, time management and how to be successful riders who produce winning rides. Although the IHSA requires an ample amount of hard work and commitment, the rewards are great and many. In addition to regional, zone and national championships, we have between seven and ten regional qualifying shows each year.

The Oilers have won National Championships in 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2018, and won the Reserve Champion title in 2008, 2014 and 2015.

Team Coach

Spencer Zimmerman is from Newport, Pa. and is a 2011 graduate of The University of Findlay with a bachelor’s degree in western equestrian studies/equine business. He is an instructor in the western equestrian studies program and is one of the top-level riders in AQHA JR Western Riding. He competes at many of the major horse shows, including the All-American Quarter Horse Congress and AQHA World Show.
