Members of Findlay's Ranch Horse Team compete in American Ranch Horse Association (ARHA) recognized shows and all points earned go toward their individual totals. Members do not need a personal membership under the ARHA, they can compete under the university's membership. Students compete as individuals against open exhibitors. Students under the age of 21 compete in the junior field and any student over the age of 21 competes as an adult.
For team members who are not an equestrian major, it is recommended that they rent a tack locker at the Western Barn.
Cost/Expenses
Team members must pay $50 each semester as dues. This cost is set by the University of Findlay as part of club fees.
Tryouts
Team tryouts are held during the first weeks in September. Riders trying out must wear a long sleeve shirt, jeans, and western boots and will ride one of the University of Findlay's school horses.
Practices
Practices take place twice a week, and students must attend at least one. An optional practice is also held on Sundays.
The team hosts various fundraisers throughout the year to offset competition costs.
